DOCTOR WHO FANS ATTEMPT TO GET DAVID TENNANT TO LIGHT THE 2012 OLYMPIC TORCH

6rYCH

Doctor Who fans may remember the David Tennant episode “Fear Her,” which involved Mr. Tennant lighting the Olympic torch in the 2012 London games. As it turns out, fans are trying to make this a reality, starting a petition to have Mr. Tennant play The Doctor as he lights the torch in the upcoming games.

If you’re interested, you can sign the petition at the link. If not, well, it probably won’t happen anyway, so don’t do anything.

YOU'RE DRINKING TOO MUCH COFFEE WHEN...

  • You go to AA meetings just for the free coffee.
  • You walk twenty miles on your treadmill before you realize it's not plugged in.
  • You forget to unwrap candy bars before eating them.
  • Charles Manson thinks you need to calm down.
  • You've built a miniature city out of little plastic stirrers.
  • People get dizzy just watching you.
  • You've worn the finish off your coffee table.
  • The Taster's Choice couple wants to adopt you.
  • Starbucks owns the mortgage on your house.
  • Your taste buds are so numb you could drink your lava lamp.

TRAILER … “EXTREMELY LOUD AND INCREDIBLY CLOSE”

POSTER -extremely-loud-and-incredibly-closeThe first trailer for "Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close" has come out via Apple. It gives a look at a strong relationship between a little boy and his beloved father who dies during the 9/11 attacks in 2001. The video also presents background music from U2's "Where the Streets Have No Name", that reflects the emotional feeling in the video.

Based on the novel of the same title by Jonathan Safran Foers, "Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close" follows Oskar Schell, an ambitious young nine-year-old who scours New York City in search of a lock that a key his father left him will open. Oskar's father died in the 9/11 attacks and the boy was also said to be an amateur inventor, jewellery designer, astrophysicist, tambourine player and pacifist at such a young age.

Thomas Horn plays the little Oskar, while Tom Hanks and Sandra Bullock star as his parents. Directed by Stephen Daldry, the movie is set for a wide release on January 20, 2012

MORE WAYS TO PHONE IN A PIZZA ORDER

“Life get’s tedious don’t it” sang Carson Robinson in the 1940’s. Ordering pizza can be so repetitious ... so .... put some fun into it!

  • Order a slice, not a whole pizza.
  • Shout "I'm through with men/women! Send me a dozen of your best, Gaston!"
  • Doze off in the middle of the order, catch yourself, and say "Where was I? Who are you?"
  • Psychoanalyse the order taker.
  • Ask what their phone number is. Hang up, call them, and ask again.
  • Order two toppings, then say, "No, they'll start fighting."
  • Learn to properly pronounce the ingredients of a Twinkie. Ask that these be included in the pizza.
  • Call to complain about service. Later, call to say you were drunk and didn't mean it.
  • Tell the order taker to tell the manager to tell his supervisor he's fired.
  • Report a petty theft to the order taker.

MM’S WEDDING RING UP FOR AUCTION

marilyn-monroe-WEDDING-JOE-DIMAGGIO

Marilyn Monroe's diamond-encrusted wedding band from Yankees legend Joe DiMaggio is set to go up for auction, Profiles in History's auctions announced.

DiMaggio gave Monroe the platinum ring, with 35 baguette-cut diamonds, at their wedding on January 14, 1954. It was the second marriage for both.

The bijou, that is now missing one diamond, is estimated to sell for between $US300,000 ($307,000) to $US500,000 ($511,000) at the auction, set for December 15-17.

A nude painting of Monroe, signed by the artist, Earl Moran, will also be auctioned and is expected to fetch $US70,000 to $US90,000.

The Monroe-DiMaggio union lasted barely a year, with biographers describing the romance as tumultuous and filled with violence.

The actress then married playwright Arthur Miller but when her third marriage ended in 1961, she rekindled her relationship with the baseball star.

DiMaggio even planned to ask Monroe to remarry him before her apparent suicide from a drug overdose in 1962, according to historians.

After Monroe's death at age 36, DiMaggio claimed her body and arranged her funeral.

In the two decades following her death, DiMaggio remembered the late actress by having roses delivered to her crypt three times a week.

DiMaggio died at age 84 in 1999.
